The main computer in my house is connected to the web via modem from our ISP Cox. We use a Cisco Linksys wireless router. We configured a new laptop yesterday to connect via the router. Now my laptop, which had been connecting fine, can no longer access the network. When I go into the "Network and Sharing Center" and pull up the nearby wireless networks, our household network no longer even displays bars, just a red X.
The error message reads "Cannot connect to this network because this computer's settings to match the required settings of the network. I don't know what has changed on our network, but I've been unable to figure out what these "required settings" are, so I've been unable to alter my laptop's settings to match the requirements. Pls help. I would first suggest you to run Network troubleshooter in Windows 7 and check if it finds any issues and if it is able to fix it.
Use Windows to configure your wireless settings and check if it helps to fix the issue. Click on Start menu and select the Run option. Enter ncpa.
