I am sorry, but you need. The smartphones doesn't have enough audio quality to make this headphone flourish. I'm a broadcaster on radio and television. I set up studio in my house and bought this headphones to replace the previous one I have, which is Beat Pro. P9 is a little bit more comfortable to wear for extended periods than Beat Pro because it cover most of my ears, which are not very big, but just manage to cover all of them with a little bit of adjustments.
The thing is, I'm not really into musical headphones. I mean I have many other good loud speakers and they sound a lot better in a room. I just don't see the fuss about headphone sound stages and etc This one, P9, just sound a bit different than Beat pro, not as much as three times the price. I have also one Bowers and Wilkins speak and they sound a lot better than this headphones.
In any case, these sounds better than Apple airpot any day. It's as if my ears were colorblind and Absolutely incredible sound. I thought it might have just been a marketing gimmick when they said you will hear things you've never heard before but I can confirm the truth of it.
I've been listening to it nonstop since I received my unit and it is absolutely divine. The song I tested was "Nude" by Radiohead and I was able to hear all the smallest details down to the scrape of the pick on the guitar strings. Truly amazing. It's as if my ears were colorblind and now they can see in full color. If you can afford it, it's absolutely worth the price tag. I bought these to wear at work. I was hoping the noise cancellation feature would drown out the co-workers who tend to speak louder than necessary when discussing issues but when I got these out of the box there were too many wires to contend with.
I was hoping for a blue tooth type headphone that was much easier to use but this was not it. Very well made but I send them back because the wires were just too much. Very nice. Beautifully made. But very expensive. One person found this helpful. The sound is incredible.

Damien may have done a fantastic job at developing the best music player on the market, but sadly, the software is plagued by usability issues and generally speaking, a mediocre user experience. A large portion of the UI in Audirvana studio is dedicated to streaming services that I am not interested in considering the poor quality of masters you are going to get on those servicesbut you still have audirvana plus 2018 free deal with a UI and monthly-based subscription model that forces you into the online steaming model.
I am sorry to say that for me to be willing to commit to a subscription-based model, the bar should be raised higher: - A decent permanent license software that works. I recently initiated the day trial of Studio. I've used Audirvana for years, but less so over the last several months. I was surprised by the subscription business model and to learn that my current software is now a "legacy". As a long-time Tidal subscriber, I have no issues with subscriptions so long as there is performance value for the investment.
The Studio download went fine and, though early days, I am very impressed with Studio over Plus. I hope to have more to say on this down the road. Now, what I don't like is the vague support system which seems to rely on the "community". I preferred sending in a question and Damien, et al, responding. This is the Benchmark Audio support model which, for me, distinguishes real customer support from the community approach that is merely a convenience to the company.

What a slap in the face to their customers. Audirvana is DEAD to me now. Audirvana 3. It sounds so good. The better audirvana plus 2018 free system the more you will love it. It does great things for all music lovers. You can try it for 30 days so you have nothing to lose and it is well worth the price.
It completely changes the game on streaming boxes because you don't have to spend thousands. You can use a good computer and then bypass its internal audio settings and let Audirvana use its own control which will keep the music and say goodbye to the internal computer noise. Think I'm joking? Decades long audiophile and you have a free trial for 30 days. So what do you have to lose? Go for it! Search is so slow I would call it non-functional.
